ABUJA, 19 November 2022 – The Philippine Embassy joined four other ASEAN diplomatic missions in Abuja in a friendly bowling game, the first sports meet organized by the ASEAN Committee in Abuja (ACA) after close to a three-year absence due to COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
A five-member team from the Philippine Embassy competed with counterparts from the Malaysian High Commission, the Embassy of Indonesia, Embassy of Thailand and Embassy of Vietnam at The Dome, Abuja’s Central Business District starting at 10:00am, following a welcome speech by Her Excellency Gloria Tiwet, Malaysian High Commissioner to Nigeria, and ACA Chair. The Embassy team, comprisingVice Consul Dana Michelle C. Del Rosario, Communications and Protocol Arnold C. Parducho, Property Officer Sherwin V. Avelino, and Consular Assistants Clifford V. Legal and Maria Abaloke Bassey, won the match after getting the highest score for the two games.
“Spare!” “Strike” flashed repeatedly on the team’s score board as Mr. Parducho, the Embassy’s highest scorer, led the team to the championship. The team was awarded the prize by High Commissioner Tiwet, who also recognized the team’s individual efforts. Mr. Parducho took the Individual Top Scorer Prize for the Men's category. -END
