20 June 2014 - The Pakikipag-isa ng mga Pilipino sa Ghana (Pilsag), the largest Filipino-based organization in Ghana, celebrated the Philippine Independence Day at W.E.B. Dubois Memorial Centre, Accra, Ghana on June 14 with a dinner and dance program entitled “Kulturang Pinoy Talentadong Pinoy.”
In the program, the Philippine National Anthem “Lupang Hinirang” was sung. Vice Consul Ralf Roldan of the Philippine Embassy in Abuja read the Independence Day message of President Benigno Aquino, while Mr. Ed Manalo and Mrs. Josie Ubas, Pilsag members, read the messages of Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert f. del Rosario and Honorary Consul Alex Quarmyne.
An estimated 200 Filipinos and Ghanaian friends attended the event. The program also featured a song and dance contest which highlighted Filipino culture. All Stars, who delighted the audience with a well choreographed cultural presentation, emerged as the winner.
While in Accra, the Philippine Embassy in Abuja rendered consular services and registration of overseas voters. END
