02 June 2014- The Philippine Embassy in Abuja celebrated the National Flag Day last May 28 to remember the date when the Philippine flag was first unfurled after the Philippine Revolutionary Army defeated Spanish forces in the Battle at Alapan in Imus, Cavite.

Members of the Filipino Community in Abuja joined in the observance of the National Flag Day through a simple flag-raising ceremony and program at the Embassy grounds.

Ambassador Alex V. Lamadrid encouraged Filipinos in Nigeria to display the Philippine flag in their homes.

The program ended with a feast of Filipino food. END
